Justificaci\u00f3n y relevancia<\/h2>\n<p>La alternancia de prosa narrativa y poes\u00eda intercalada en <em>ZAIDA (Versos en la celda)<\/em> no es solo una decisi\u00f3n de estructura editorial: es la forma misma que adopta la resistencia de la cautiva. Los diez versos de Zaida \u2014escritos a lo largo de diez a\u00f1os de encierro, uno por a\u00f1o\u2014 son formalmente discontinuos de la prosa (distinta tipograf\u00eda, distinto r\u00e9gimen enunciativo, distinto estatuto dieg\u00e9tico) y, al mismo tiempo, org\u00e1nicamente integrados en la narraci\u00f3n cronol\u00f3gica. Esta tensi\u00f3n define la hibridaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9rica de la novela.<\/p>\n<p>La \u00e9cfrasis (del griego <em>\u00e9kphrasis<\/em>, descripci\u00f3n v\u00edvida) designa la descripci\u00f3n po\u00e9tica de una obra de arte visual. En ZAIDA opera de manera no convencional: los versos no describen obras de arte sino que construyen im\u00e1genes mentales de objetos ausentes (el mar que Zaida no puede ver, las rosas que imagina en los barrotes, los jardines a los que ya no tiene acceso). Esa <em>\u00e9cfrasis de lo ausente<\/em> es la forma po\u00e9tica espec\u00edfica de la resistencia de la cautiva.<\/p>\n<p>No existe ning\u00fan estudio sobre la \u00e9cfrasis en la novela hist\u00f3rica espa\u00f1ola contempor\u00e1nea, ni sobre la funci\u00f3n de la poes\u00eda intercalada en ese subg\u00e9nero. Los estudios sobre \u00e9cfrasis en literatura espa\u00f1ola (Albaladejo Mayordomo, Ponce C\u00e1rdenas) se centran en la poes\u00eda \u00e1urea. Este art\u00edculo propone ese primer cruce.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Marco te\u00f3rico<\/h2>\n<p>El pilar central es la teor\u00eda del <em>imagetext<\/em> de W.J.T. Mitchell (<em>Picture Theory<\/em>, 1994). Los diez versos son <em>imagetexts<\/em>: construyen im\u00e1genes visuales (las olas del Verso I, las rosas rojas del II, el goteo del agua del III, las sonrisas de Tayri del IV, el r\u00edo del V, Tayri galopando del VI, los brotes verdes del VII, las hojas oto\u00f1ales del VIII, la sombra del IX, el pozo de m\u00e1rmol del X) que funcionan como cuadros mentales dentro de la narraci\u00f3n prosaica.<\/p>\n<p>James Heffernan (<em>Museum of Words<\/em>, 1993) define la \u00e9cfrasis como \u00abla representaci\u00f3n verbal de una representaci\u00f3n visual\u00bb. En ZAIDA, los objetos descritos no son representaciones visuales existentes sino im\u00e1genes puramente mentales de la cautiva. Esto produce lo que proponemos llamar <em>\u00e9cfrasis de la imaginaci\u00f3n<\/em> o <em>\u00e9cfrasis del deseo<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Murray Krieger (<em>Ekphrasis<\/em>, 1992) analiza la \u00e9cfrasis como intento del lenguaje de convertirse en imagen. En los versos de Zaida, ese intento es especialmente pat\u00e9tico: la cautiva intenta detener el tiempo mediante la escritura, hacer presentes las im\u00e1genes ausentes. El fracaso de esa \u00e9cfrasis es el motor del pathos de la novela.<\/p>\n<p>Isabel Para\u00edso (<em>El verso libre hisp\u00e1nico<\/em>, 1985; 2000) es la autoridad en verso libre en espa\u00f1ol. Los diez versos son m\u00e9tricamente irregulares pero presentan regularidades pros\u00f3dicas: tendencia a heptas\u00edlabos y endecas\u00edlabos, rima asonante en los cierres, ritmo acentual con predominio de pies trocaicos.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Preguntas de investigaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Pregunta 1:<\/strong> Los versos son <em>imagetexts<\/em> que funcionan como ventanas o umbrales: cada verso abre un espacio visual (una imagen mental de lo ausente) dentro del flujo temporal de la cr\u00f3nica. Se se\u00f1ala formalmente (tipograf\u00eda diferente, centrado, espacio en blanco) y tem\u00e1ticamente (cada verso cierra un a\u00f1o de encierro con una imagen-s\u00edntesis).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pregunta 2:<\/strong> Los diez versos producen fundamentalmente <em>\u00e9cfrasis de la imaginaci\u00f3n<\/em> (describen im\u00e1genes ausentes). El Verso IV es el m\u00e1s original: describe una pintura imaginaria (sonrisas de Tayri pintadas en las rocas de la celda), una ficci\u00f3n dentro de la ficci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pregunta 3:<\/strong> Los versos son intradieg\u00e9ticos (escritos por Zaida dentro de la ficci\u00f3n) pero producen un doble efecto: como documentos dieg\u00e9ticos (informan sobre el estado emocional de Zaida) y como poemas l\u00edricos (producen efectos est\u00e9ticos independientes de su funci\u00f3n narrativa).<\/p>\n<h2>6. An\u00e1lisis preliminar<\/h2>\n<p>Verso I: el mar (\u00abolas\u00bb, \u00abespuma blanca\u00bb, \u00abbrisa\u00bb, \u00absal marina\u00bb) \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis de la imaginaci\u00f3n marinera. Verso II: las rosas rojas en los barrotes \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis arquitect\u00f3nico-vegetal. Verso III: el interior de la celda (\u00abrocas oscuras\u00bb, \u00absin ventanas\u00bb, \u00abfr\u00edo de piedra\u00bb, \u00abgoteo lento del agua\u00bb) \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis arquitect\u00f3nica negativa. Verso IV: los dibujos de Tayri en las rocas \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis metadieg\u00e9tica. Verso V: el r\u00edo (\u00absonido brav\u00edo del r\u00edo\u00bb) \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis auditiva. Verso VI: Tayri galopando \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis cin\u00e9tica. Verso VII: los brotes verdes marchitos \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis de la decepci\u00f3n. Verso VIII: los jardines de Ronda en oto\u00f1o \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis de la memoria. Verso IX: la sombra en la celda (\u00abjaula negra de cristal\u00bb) \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis de la muerte. Verso X: el pozo de m\u00e1rmol blanco \u2014 \u00e9cfrasis ut\u00f3pica. La progresi\u00f3n va de la naturaleza exterior (mar, jardines) a la celda interior (rocas, sombra), con el pozo de m\u00e1rmol como \u00faltimo objeto bello antes de la muerte.<\/p>\n<p>An\u00e1lisis m\u00e9trico del Verso I: \u00abO-las-que-ba-\u00f1an-mis-re-cuer-dos\u00bb (9 s\u00edlabas, ritmo trocaico); \u00abque-i-nun-dan-de-es-pu-ma-blan-ca\u00bb (10 s\u00edlabas con sinalefa); \u00abes-ta-ne-gra-cel-da\u00bb (6 s\u00edlabas, posible ad\u00f3nico). La irregularidad m\u00e9trica es sistem\u00e1tica pero no ca\u00f3tica: hay tendencia al octos\u00edlabo y al decas\u00edlabo, con cierres cortos que dan sensaci\u00f3n de corte brusco.<\/p>\n<h2>10.
